doc: remove any information about version 5.5 from the docs

We added some information about version 5.5 when we thought it would be release. It was skipped and the version following 5.4 is 6.0. All references to version 5.5 should be removed or replaced with 6.0.
This issue can be closed when all the linked PRs are merged.
