Which context do you assume that these languages are common in? is it comparative on the global scale, or is it per country or per region per country?

This is hinted at but not really explained in the README. it's never going to be possible to come up with a list of "common languages" that "fits all".

Instead I found some existing work (http://stevehardie.com/2009/10/list-of-common-languages/) and used that as the basis of the common languages list.

I'd be more than happy to expand common languages to be relative to country, region etc but at the moment it's effectively on the global scale from your options.
