What we do
Our team manages a wide range of products from outstanding globally recognised products like SAGE Journals used by over 200 million researchers every year, to newer learning resources like SAGE Research Methods and SAGE Video that are responding to new digital teaching & learning needs. We also invest in transformational innovation, building MVPs to test new ideas and emerging technology, such as AR, VR and ChatGTP, for tomorrow’s students and researchers. As part of the Product Innovation team at SAGE you can build your career through experience across our broad range of learning and research products and also through our career progression opportunities with roles at Associate, Product, Snr Product and Head of positions within the team (and the mirror levels in UX!). We recently build out a Product Management Academy that support skills development through a combination of in house training coupled with external courses and resources.
Our department sits within the wider Editorial group and works with pretty much every other department at SAGE from Marketing to Editorial to Finance to Customer Service, Circulation and Sales! Depending upon the product we sometimes work with in-house engineers, and sometimes with vendors. We are a hybrid team with access to our London and Washington DC offices as well as support for remote working.

There are 5 teams in Product Innovation
Researcher Experience Product Team
We are responsible for the researcher online experience in our journal publishing, from article submission through to publication & dissemination, and supporting online research itself.
Learning Resources Product Team
We are responsible for the new product development work and the online experience for our Learning Resources products. They’re a complete suite of products for supercharging research, supporting student success and creating impact.
Transformational Product Team
We deliver new products for teaching and learning, with a focus on innovation in research methods, and increasing adoptions of digital textbooks. We develop products from scratch, or partner with start-ups and external groups, and we often with freelancers on lean experiments.
UX Team
We are a small, collaborative group of researchers, designers and analysts focused on the end-to-end experience of our products: from discovery and access to navigation, engagement and conversion. Our mission is to support the building of bridges to knowledge by making those bridges useful, usable, discoverable and accessible.
Strategic Initiatives
We lead SAGE’s market research projects, run the Library Advisory Boards and lead strategic initiatives to monitor changes and trends. As new external acquisitions opportunities emerge we are part of the team to bring those successfully into SAGE.
