Is this javapns responsible for sending emoji?

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.I input \ue057 to send a message as Emoji.
2.I sent a message.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I should have got a message (image), 
But I got a message \ue057 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
the version is 2.2
