DRC-SIM on Steam Deck ?

T-RVSP opened this issue · comments

I am reaching out to you regarding your DRC-Sim software. I would like to use it on the Steam Deck for an enjoyable gaming experience. I recently attempted to use your software to utilize DRC-Sim with my Steam Deck, but I encountered difficulties in configuring it correctly.

I followed the instructions provided on your repository, but I faced issues during the software setup. Unfortunately, the provided instructions were not clear enough for me, and I got stuck at the "apt-get" step as it is not compatible with SteamOS.

Then, I tried doing it directly on a computer, but my Wii U is not being detected, even though they are on the same network. Unfortunately, this did not resolve my problem.

I am interested in using DRC-Sim with my Steam Deck as I find it to be a very useful feature, especially since I recently broke my GamePad. Hence, I am highly motivated to solve these issues.

Could you please assist me by providing more detailed instructions or additional tips to properly configure your software with the Steam Deck? If possible, I would also appreciate any additional information on specific requirements or recommended configurations to achieve the best results.

Thank you sincerely for your time and attention. I highly appreciate your work on these software applications and hope to benefit from your expertise in resolving these problems.

Best regards,

I'm not the creator of the project but can try to give some tips

I don't know what WiFi the steam uses but it might be incompatible with the app

Also you might be able to install the Dependencies your self and then build the software manually to install it

Also the wii has it's own network so being on the same network makes no difference, you just need to be In range of the wii to make it work

My fork with modern Linux compatibility and Arch Linux support and guide of course.

But yeah the Steam Deck has some crappy Realtek Chipset in it. That doesn't work, at least from memory. And then SteamOS limits access to /usr/bin, although that can be worked around
