ComicLink Comments:Offered here is one of the most important comic books ever published, in an uncommonly high-grade, that of a CGC 7.5 with supple, off-white interior page preservation. Tightly graded with bold, bright colors, unblemished central images and with wear relegated primarily to the edges, it is a beautiful example, worthy of inclusion within the most exclusive of collections. This first Captain America appearance with a cover sporting the hero clad in the Stars and Stripes clocking Hitler in the jaw is one for the ages! Interestingly enough, this comic book was published prior to America's officially entering World War II! The Overstreet Price Guide lists this issue in the condition offered for $149,625. This issue sells for far beyond current Guide levels. This premiere issue features Captain America's origin story, where a patriotic young man, too scrawny for the military turns into America's first super soldier. Within these story pages we are also introduced to Bucky Barnes (who will one day become Winter Soldier), and the Nazi arch nemesis, Red Skull. Joe Simon and Jack Kirby's creation is not only a symbol of US strength and patriotism but also one of the most significant and enduring superheroes ever created. It is also the first major Marvel super-hero co-created by Jack Kirby, who became the driving creative force, along with Stan Lee, for the Silver Age of Marvel comics.Captain America battled the Axis forces throughout the war, and afterwards continued to pursue America's interests by taking on the looming threat of Communism, crime on the streets, within the Silver Age to the present, super villains too numerous to count. More than just an American force for good, Cap and the Avengers saved the world many times over and, thanks to the mega blockbuster Marvel movies, the character is already well known the world over. Now may be an ideal time to acquire this introduction issue, prior to any announcement of a cinematic revamp of the character when demand will surely skyrocket yet again!
