My use case for fastdigest is, of course, drake. cc @gmbecker.
Hi, let me know if there's anything you need from me regarding undrestanding what fastdigest does and doesn't do.
Initial benchmarks: ropensci/drake#498 (comment). Proposed next step: gmbecker/fastdigest#2.
