Follow the instructions for ZSH Terminal confguration on Arch/Ubuntu/CentOS/Fedora Systems:
-
ZSH install :
sudo dnf install zsh -y
-
Change Shell from
/bin/bash
to/bin/zsh
using 'chsh /bin/zsh` and Log out and Log in back and check if prompt has changed -
Choose
0
for creating a empty zsh configuration file (~/.zshrc
) -
Download OhMyZSH Plugin Manager for configuring ZSH Plugins:
sh -c "$(wget -O- https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ohmyzsh/ohmyzsh/master/tools/install.sh)"
-
The main reason I recommend using ZSH is its Auto suggestions feature. Download the OhMyZSH configuration and add the in plugins section in
~/.zshrc
:
git clone https://github.com/zsh-users/zsh-autosuggestions ${ZSH_CUSTOM:-~/.oh-my-zsh/custom}/plugins/zsh-autosuggestions
Edit the ~/.zshrc
Add
plugins=( # other plugins... zsh-autosuggestions )
- Add ZSH Syntax Highlighter and update the plugins section in
~/.zshrc
:git clone https://github.com/zsh-users/zsh-syntax-highlighting.git ${ZSH_CUSTOM:-~/.oh-my-zsh/custom}/plugins/zsh-syntax-highlighting
plugins=( # other plugins... zsh-autosuggestions zsh-syntax-highlighting )
- PowerLevel10K for prompt customizations and update themes in
~/.zshrc
: Add new desired fonts or use default font with your desired terminal and download Powerlevel10K from:
git clone --depth=1 https://github.com/romkatv/powerlevel10k.git ${ZSH_CUSTOM:-$HOME/.oh-my-zsh/custom}/themes/powerlevel10k
ZSH_THEME="powerlevel10k/powerlevel10k" in
~/.zshrc``
Configure your theme settings using :
p10k configure
