controlling audio delay

Hi,

I'm not having much luck minimising the audio delay via the buffering duration parameter. The delay seems to be stuck at about 10s (sometimes less) even for a buffer duration of 2s. I guess my using VBR doesn't help but I don't see how it explains this much delay.

PS: this issue aside, darkice+icecast2 is the best solution yet I've found to stream the output of a player app to a receiver hooked to a capable hifi system.
