Seeking new maintainer(s)

mplanchard opened this issue · comments

I no longer have the time to be the primary maintainer on this project, and I am also no longer writing any Python nor using pypiserver at my day job. As such, maintaining this project has become unfeasible.

I'd like the project to continue, and I'm happy to help with the transition. If you're interested in taking over maintenance, please let me know at msplanchard (a) gmail and/or comment here. Ideally I'd like for someone to take over with a proven track record of contributing to open source projects.

Hey everyone!
Wanted to give a small update on the status of this issue - @mplanchard and I have discussed for a while I will try to be spending more time maintaining the repo and I'll try doing my best but it would be still amazing to find more people who'd like to step in :) For now, just as a note, feel free to ping me in the reviews etc if necessary, I will be happy to help out.
It will take me a bit of time to get up to speed, but I'm happy to get working 👍

Small update from my side: would like to apologize for the low activity in the repo in any case. We haven't pushed new changes or features, and sorry for all the long-lasting issues! Part of it is my challenges with availabilioty at this point. I am combining a master's study and working, so my time for the project is sometimes (especially during the exam periods 😁) is quite limited, sorry about this.

On the other hand! I am planning to make some new changes soon (mainly CI/CD) and finally get to releasing the newer versions. I will try to set it all up in a more lively manner so that everyone can find the updates when interested! And for all the existing issues I've not been responding to, I will definitely get to them all hopefully very soon :)

Thanks everyone for participating throughout these times! And, as it is, the call for maintainers is still open! ✌️ :)

Hi @dee-me-tree-or-love and @mplanchard I would like to be support to a maintainer right now, when I am fully confident and our mindset on same objective, I can take things up. I am new to the maintainer space, so I would like to get few coaching as well. Here is my project link pyenv-win

Hey @kirankotari thanks a lot for your message and proposal! All the help will be certainly very welcome. It will be amazing to see you chiming in! I am currently on a holiday until around 20 August, but thereafter I'll be more active and available for a chat if you would like that. For now, don't hesitate to tune in on the issues you find interesting already. Then, maybe we can chat a little more when I am back?
If it is easier, you can always reach me on our Zulip channel. In any case, you are more than welcome and I'm glad to hear from you! All the best, hope to talk to you soon ✌️

I help maintain pipenv and could consider helping out in some capacity -- we may be converting pipenv test runner to utilize this package instead of what we are currently using for this.

Hey everyone, thanks for the patience, I am now at last back in front of the screen.

Hi @matteius, this would be amazing if you'd like to join! Please feel free to join any discussions you find interesting and if you'd like, I'll be happy to add you to the team. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a private message on Zulip or via email. I'd be happy to chat :)

Hello @kirankotari, if you are around too, I'd be happy to start a chat whenever you're interested! :) Likewise, feel free to send me a message on Zulip or via email and let's see how should we go forward! I'll be happy to share all that I managed to figure out so far.

In any case, I will also start thinking a bit about how to best support maintainer collaboration and will keep everyone posted with updates. ✌️

My workflow relies on pypiserver, so I can try to dedicate a bit of time to help too 🙂

Hey @pawamoy this would be awesome! You are very welcome to join, I'll be very happy with your input 😊
Let me know on Zulip if you have any questions and send me a line there in any case, I'll be happy to add you to the team!

Thanks a lot for willing to help! 🌟 😊

Thanks! I joined Zulip yesterday but I didn't find you on it.
