Why is most recent release a .exe installer?

totallygeekdom opened this issue · comments

Why is a .exe installer provided for latest release? A .exe is not the correct format for a steam skin and applying skin yourself is very easy. You already have instructions on the front page of this project. Why would you need an installer to do it for you? I also don't understand why a .exe installer is now the only way to apply the skin. where is the .zip file from the alpha?
Very sketchy, what else is that installer doing?

🤣🤣🤣
Source code (zip)

Sorry 0.4.4 source code didn't work when I tried to apply it, I assumed that the source code had additional or missing files and was different than what was in the alpha .zip. Using the new 0.4.4.2 release worked. But I still find the inclusion of the .exe files to be suspicious.

The installer is optional and is also open source. On the other hand the source of the skin is still there And it serves to install it without installer.

This is no longer the case as the repo hasn't been updated in six months.

Gotta double down on this because as nice as this skin looks I do not trust Exe's, especially for something that is basically a bunch of style guides and image files that can be dropped manually into steam/skins. Both this repo and the Installer repo haven't been updated in a significant amount of time and the Launcher repo is attached to an entirely different account.

For the simple reason that he wants to and can, I don't know why it bothers you so much, not all people know how to install the skin as you do. Besides it was a gift from a donor who spent money on the exe certification.

If you don't trust the installer download the zip, so liberal they all are, instead of complaining download the zip and that's it. 🤡🤡🤡

As if no github release is distributed as an exe, the exe is certified by Microsoft.

And to close, because of how ungrateful people are, you can rest assured that there probably won't be any more releases here, it's all over.

Why are you so salty about questions being addressed to the devs on an open source platform, where filing "Issues" is a core mechanism of the development process? What does "being grateful" have to do with this? Can one not be grateful and ask questions about the software at the same time?
