While I'm sure die-hard fans of paredit will never switch, there's already a project like this to not only enable paredit everywhere, but completely replace it with better implementation. It is currently ~99% compatible with paredit.

Hi Matus! Thanks, yes, I'm aware of smartparens. This is just a handy hack for paredit guys like me, since the paredit commands kinda work in many common situations, but I wouldn't consider trying to make it any smarter. :-) I'll take another look at smartparens when I get chance, but it would have to be as restrictive as paredit for me to switch over for lisp programming.
