Flickering on some LEDs near far end of strip?

PAK90 opened this issue · comments

I have a 178-LED WS2812B strip with a 5V 15A power supply. It's linked on both ends to the arduino nano (running latest Prismatik version) and the power.

I find in certain configurations, the two strips furthest from the power flicker constantly, which is rather annoying. For example, if I set it to solid colour, white, and put the brightness to 100% and brightness cap to 45%, it will flicker quite a lot. If I put it to 100%/100% however it's less noticeable. It's also very noticeable with brightness/cap at 60%/50% but overbrightening set to about 30 in screen grabbing mode.

Is this simply a connection issue with the strips? I'm still new to using them, and I've noticed the connectors (like these) tend to be very fiddly, requiring the strip to be 'just right'. Would it be better if I soldered all the connections instead? I do notice a large voltage drop; near the start it's ~4.7V and near the flickering area it's about 3.3V.

try voltage injection
and yes, soldering should help
