When configuring Prey 1.2.9 on Android 2.2, an error message shows up (HS:android-2.2-bug)

Problem
On Android 2.2, after installing, when opening Prey, and typing the account password on the phone, the following error message appears: "We have a situation!
Can't add this device to your prey account. Please check again the email
and password provided".
The users affected tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and also changing the password, without success. So, I guess the version is just too old to be supported by the new Prey releases for Android.
How it was detected
- A few users and customers have been reporting this issue.
Suggestions
Make Prey work on Android 2.2. Let it be the last old Android version supported by all the new Prey releases.
