Hello,
I am running praat (6.2.09) on Ubuntu Jammy. The running cursor while playing audio doesn't show. Any suggestions why this might be? I checked all settings for the audio playing preferences.
Thank you!

This is due to the circumstance that Ubuntu has moved from PulseAudio to PipeWire, with less-than-optimal PulseAudio emulation. We have three options:
- Wait until the authors of PipeWire correct the bug. This may sound like a far-fetched option, but half a year ago Praat’s audio output would play for no more than 1 second, and this problem has evaporated with a PipeWire update in October or so.
- If option 1 does not work within half a year or so, we may have to convert from PulseAudio to PipeWire. This will be painful, but may be necessary.
- Try to work around the problem by trying different routes within PulseAudio. It is possible that PulseAudio emulation will work correctly if we use a different subset of PulseAudio, or a different order of calls that the authors of PipeWire did test.
