As pointed out by the 3DGS authors, part of the DPTR code is refactored from the original 3DGS kernel.

While there are substantial changes in our implementation (camera optimization, modular design, etc.), we do agree with the authors that part of the DPTR implementation is refactored from the original kernel. Thus, in alignment with the terms of the original Gaussian-Splatting license, we change the license of DPTR to the original one.

is the plan to leave as is or make changes to make it apache2?

Hi @dlazares we will leave the licence of this repo as is.

While we are interested in developing a cleaner backend repo starting from scratch, currently it is not on our todo list as we don't have the bandwidth.
