Commandline doesn't appear in the terminal

bobhenkel opened this issue · comments

I've tried to disable popups. I've tried chrome, safari, and firefox and keep getting.

"If the commandline doesn't appear in the terminal, make sure popups are enabled or try resizing the browser window."
Where the terminal should be.

Steps I took with popup blocked turned off.

  1. Tried this with docker-compose up and docker run and same end result
  2. Click Kubernetes Hands-on Workshop
  3. Docker login comes up and I login
  4. See workshop with terminal with message that says "If the commandline doesn't appear in the terminal, make sure popups are enabled or try resizing the browser window.".
  5. Try to resize browser and terminal pane with no luck.

Thanks for your help.

This looks really cool!

Are you running this locally using docker-compose? This is a repo for a site still in development :-) Works for me, but we're not totally ready yet

Yeah locally on OSX using docker for mac.
Are you on OSX as well? I'll give it a try from my linux workstation when I get home.

Eventually it'll stop working when we go live, because it points to Docker's infrastructure. Those containers aren't running in a browser. We just have it available for now for testing. However, it's open source, you could spin up your own version of the backend and point it there. More importantly to us, it'll eventually be a live site.

The issue appears to be that labs.play-with-k8s.com is down at the moment

Resolving this

@ManoMarks I hate to comment on an old and closed issue, but Is it possible that that labs.play-with-k8s.com is down currently? I've been late to this, I apologize, but I really would like to use the PWD/PWk8s classroom and I'm getting the "If the command line doesn't appear..." error. I've tried running the backend in my MacOS but it proved a little too complex for a newcomer. Appreciate any help.

@melmirabile @iahmad-khan I don't work at Docker anymore. @marcosnils is probably best contact. I'm muting this thread since it's not me now.

@marcosnils I know this is old, but I'm having the same issue. While the labs.play-with-k8s.com site works and I can create a node there, the https://training.play-with-kubernetes.com/kubernetes-workshop/ split-screen gives me the same behavior as desribed by OP.

hey @Alestrix, unfortunately https://training.play-with-kubernetes.com/kubernetes-workshop/ is out of my scope and something that I don't generally manage anymore. I guess the best thing to do now is to bring down the website.
