Blog post: raw.pixls.us milestones and asking for more

@LebedevRI had hit me up about current stats on RPU, and pinged me today that we should get something published about RPU and the efforts.

I need to collect some stats from him or @andabata that will make good content for a post.

  1. How many samples?
  2. Growth rates? (Or any other awesome or fun statistics, @andabata?)
  3. Thanks (to @andabata for managing this, and LebedevRI for the work and stewardship).
  4. Going forward - need more samples? Anything high-profile we'd like to see?
  1. https://raw.pixls.us/button-cameras.svg https://raw.pixls.us/button-samples.svg
  2. i think @andabata had something, but not since the beginning
But we do know what we had in the rawsamples.ch, don't we? So we can at least compare with that.
  3. FIXME: do not touch. damn markdown breaks if i skip this
  4. Moar samples :)
    • We still don't have the full coverage - only 77% or so.
    • We still do have non-CC0 samples.
    • We still have very few rare samples (all medium-format, Sigma)

Passing-by though, just so that i won't forget about it: we are looking for freely-licensed CC0 samples. so maybe tweet it at creativecommons / wikimedia, just because

Ok, I'm writing this now.

When we imported the original rawsamples data, what is the number of samples and cameras we started with? This is so I can compare what the original dataset had vs. now.

I'm using graphs from @andabata (ty!) for cameras and samples totals.

Currently, I'm here:

Our friendly neighborhood @LebedevRI

[15:58:47] <andabata> LebedevRI: almost 800 samples

We currently only have about 77% coverage.

And that is for the cameras we know about (those which are supported by rs)
So the real coverage is likely worse.

We are still missing some rarer samples like any medium-format or Sigma samples.

It seems we also miss half of the samsung samples.
Oh, and as always, new cameras (e.g. nikon d5, ...) :)

Also, it probably needs some more blurb, like why we care, why we need that, etc.
