implement storystreams

all storystream articles: categorize with "storystream". This is for identification purposes and will not show up in any lists
then, add the specific storystream category, e.g. "storystream-prom-uppers".
using these categories, article templates can have the storystream displayed at the end of the article containing the rest of the stories. A custom layout storystream category page can also be built.
this would be an easy way to implement general Breaking News feature as well.
