Hello,
I'm interested in converting this to work in Python 3. I've forked the repo and will begin that today. Let me know if you'd like me to open a PR in this repo once I'm done.

Okay! I've done it, and it's in PR #2. I believe it might be a breaking change, so maybe we should create a new repo and put it there, rather than making this repo not backward-compatible.
