Bleemsync shuts down partway through backup

I keep trying to run the first step of the hack on my ps classic I just bought a week ago off Amazon. I have tried 5 different usb drives, both usb 2.0 and 3.0 drives of varying sizes I made sure they were formatted to fat32 and named SONY. Nothing I have tried has worked. It starts the backup and then after about a minute it suddenly shuts down and when I turn it back on it just starts from the beginning. I plug the usb into my pc and there's only one file in the backup folder when there should be 3 if I have read the tutorials correctly. Am I doing something wrong? Is my ps classic broken?
Nevermind, turns out my wall adapter was defective.
