Add a maximum length for the password

Hi everyone,
We've got an email from a user complaining that he can't enter a 44-character password.
I don't know the exact length of the password field, but we should at least limit the number of characters.
No such behavior is reproducible.
I wonder if there is a custom ROM in the device.
No answer from the user.
