Selection delete bug

Internally, our QA found a selection delete bug in some of the recent changes on master. To replicate (start and end range marked by "|"):

<em><SAME_USER_INSERT>te|xt</SAME_USER_INSERT> text</em> te|xt

Delete and notice the error in the log, and all of the text is removed/not tracked.
