project dead?

johanneswilm opened this issue · comments

Hey,
I noticed that nothing has been committed for half a year. Changes to Chrome and other browsers do that this plugin is getting less and less usable unless it is maintained. So quetion: is this project dead or is someone maintaining it?

Should we regard the lack of response as a yes?

Unfortunately, it looks like it. some of the other branches are active though https://github.com/NYTimes/ice/network .

I see no documentation regarding the diff.. Do you happen to know which one actually carries the torch and which are for personal customizations? :)

I believe some have worked on putting it into TinyMCE4. Then secondly there is a major problem due to regressions in recent versions of Chrome which means that spaces are nonbreakable, and I don't think it has been fixed here, but if you check out the CKeditor plugin corresponding to this, they seem to have fixed it: http://ckeditor.com/addon/lite It's based on ice, but I don't know what they did to fix that.

Thanks!!

Thank you @johanneswilm for filing this issue and your subsequent technical direction on how to update this plugin!

Hi all. I put in some work recently to make ICE work with TinyMCE4. Submitted a pull request #116 but haven't had any response. So should someone need TinyMCE4 support, please check out our fork at https://github.com/ctxis/ice

Yeah it seemed dead when I did some work on it a year ago.

I added a call for help issue. It looks like @itmilos is trying to revive things...
