gpt4all 2.7.4 only uses half wide off screen. fix this.

@Macalanias I personally like how it doesn't expand to the full width of the screen. Word processors do the same thing by default. It's much harder and slower to read very long lines of text, then find the beginning of the next line at the other side of the screen.

@Phil209 for me it´s annoying, because i generate a lot of text and don´t want to scroll so often to read more.
as in many cases, an option switch would be the best solution for everyone.
don´t know if anyone had this word-like-look on wishlist, for me it´s a bug

I also prefer the old look, where the full width of the window was utilized. I initially thought it was a bug related to the new pin/hide sidebar option, but looking at the release notes, it appears to be an approved change that was requested "Limit the width of text in the chat #2118"

#2118

It would be nice to have this as an optional feature instead (seems to be hard-coded to a width of 1280).

changes say it is a "main.qml" where the 1280 is written down. i searched through all folders in hope i could change it back by myself, but this file doesn´t even exist.

hopefully, when they don´t want to change it back, they can answer us here how to change it by ourself.

I couldn't find it either. I've just raised the issue on the Discord server, to see if there's any way around it.

@rweg23 in case you get an answer on discord, would be nice if you copy paste it here :)

Ah, this is what that was about. On Discord, there was a response from manyoso, but not a confirmation/commitment. So I guess I'll add the label to mark this as a feature request for now, but no guarantees.

Thank-you, making the narrower width optional would be the best solution. For me it just looks and feels better using the full width, especially if the "large" font setting is used.

(there's a similar request from "Tailkinker" in the Linux Discord channel too)
