Fork, Commit, Merge - Easy Issue (Kotlin)

Create a Simple Kotlin Program to Print User's Input

Note: You don't have ask permission to start solving the issue or get assigned, since these issues are supposed to be always open for new contributors. The actions-user bot will reset the file back to previous state for the next contributor after your commit is merged. So you can just simply start working with the issue right away!

Navigate to the tasks/kotlin/easy directory from the root of your project.

Then open a file called GreetingApp.kt.

For this task, you will create a simple Kotlin program that prompts the user to enter their name and then prints out a greeting using their name.

Requirements:

  • Use the Kotlin standard library to get input from the user.
  • Print out "Hello, [name]!" where [name] is the name entered by the user.

To run the program, first you need to compile the code using this command:

kotlinc tasks/kotlin/easy/GreetingApp.kt -include-runtime -d tasks/kotlin/easy/GreetingApp.jar

That will create compiled jar-file into the directory, which you can run using Java:

java -jar tasks/kotlin/easy/GreetingApp.jar

If the program works as requested in the task, you are ready to make a pull request!

To work with this issue, you need to have Kotlin and Java installed to your local machine.
Check out README.md for more instructions of installing Kotlin and Java. Also there are detailed instructions of how to make a pull request.

Feel free to ask any questions here if you have some problems!
