Fork, Commit, Merge - Easy Issue (Fortran)

Calculate the Area of a Triangle

Note: You don't have ask permission to start solving the issue or get assigned, since these issues are supposed to be always open for new contributors. The actions-user bot will reset the file back to previous state for the next contributor after your commit is merged. So you can just simply start working with the issue right away!

Navigate to the tasks/fortran/easy directory from the root of your project.

Then open a file called triangle_area.f90.

Description

Implement a Fortran program that takes the base and height of a triangle as inputs and calculates its area.
The program should prompt the user for the Base of the triangle and Height of the triangle. After that it should print the result.

Expected Output:

Your program should be able to accept two numbers (base and height of a triangle) and display the calculated area.
Running the program should have an output similar to the following:

Enter the base of the triangle:
23
Enter the height of the triangle:
33
The area of the triangle is: 379.500000

To test the program you have to first make sure you are in the right directory:

cd tasks/fortran/easy/

Then you have to compile the program:

gfortran -o triangle_area triangle_area.f90

After compiling you can run the program with the command:

./triangle_area

Alternatively, if you've installed "Code Runner" extension in VS Code, you can right-click anywhere in the file editor and select Run Code to compile and run the program.

If the program works as requested in the task, you are ready to make a pull request!

To work with this issue, you need to have Fortran installed to your local machine.
Check out README.md for more instructions of installing Fortran and how to make a pull request.
