Possible to add 16-bit and 32-bit support?

Would it be possible to add 16-bit and 32-bit per channel support?

We work in AE using linear workflow at 32-bit per channel and would prefer to process 32-bit TIFF or EXR sequences. At the very least, 16-bit per channel PNG files would be very useful, though we would prefer 32-bit float so we could recover shadow and highlight later on in compositing if needed.
