Why are the phases indicated with A,B,C?

While I am trying to understand what is documented here and what I have discovered to make new PR I have found something that I just don't understand: Tere was a reason why the phases are indicated with A,B,C, and not with internationally recognised names such as
A: L1= R
B: L2 = S
C: L3 = T
It is the way they are called in the app, I was trying to keep it close to the app, that way it is easier to upgrade as new versions of the app are released.
in fact even in cloud api they are called that, I had not noticed it
