random crop generating more focals?

In the DUSt3R paper, page 16: F->F.1 -> Data Augmentation -> paragraph line 6-7 : Centered random cropping thus helps in generating more focals.
The cropping only shifts (cx, cy) without affecting (fx,fy) if the image is not scaled/resized. if we scale, it affects both (fx,fy) as per the scale being applied and shifts (cx, cy) to adjust the new origin of image pixels. Can you help me clarify the changes in focal because of cropping as per the paper?
