Wrap spaced numbers

Originally requested in the WordPress forums for wp-Typography:
There should be an option for numbers like: “400 000″ to be wrapped as one: <span class="numbers">400 000</span>. Currently, the result is <span class=”numbers”>400</span> 000` which results in typographically incorrect line breaks.
