I'm afraid that everything is broken ... can not connect to the MPD

It also works with git-version.

Thanks, I'll try to put a patch in the source code and try to rebuild... sonata 1.6 is written on the Python 2 and GTK 2... I wonder would it not be conflicts with this version?

I have applied that patch to sonata 1.7 and it works fine: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/sonata-git/

I'm probably going to commit another fix though, since the patch proposed completely remove support for the xfade feature.

So I made a patch in 6bea8bb in the branch fix/mpd-0.18-support.

If you can give it a try and I will merge it to master if it looks good!
