Icons turns black in lv2 plugin

I am on Manjaro and this this happens in both carla and ardour.
To recreate it, open the plugin gui, close it, and open it again.
it happens in any format if the host simply hides and shows the UI again without recreating it.

How to I make ardour redraw the UI?
if you know the vital UI, you can click on top-left to show about section and change the zoom level from within that.
this forces a redraw of the Ui
I encountered the same problem, using Ardour, Arch Linux and the i3 window manager.
