Record list metrics into statsd/DataDog

Sizes, number of entries, etc.
given that we use datadog for all metrics gathering and that exposes a local statsd listener, we could ship these as shavar.:lines something like that. Tagging on the AWS side would allow us to differentiate between env's. If the metrics were sent on config refresh that would also be lovely ;)
