Hey guys,

Thanks for your project. I've been trying to install movienet-tools on my machine:

  • Ubuntu 18.04 LTS,
  • CUDA 10.2
  • GCC 7.5
  • Nvidia GeForce RTX2080ti.

I successfully installed the requirements with pip. However, the compilation with the command python setup.py develop fails with the next error message:

Hi, I guess the problem is caused by the version mismatching.
We did not upgrade the cuda ops to pytorch 1.6.0.
This tool is developed based on pytorch 1.5.0 so you'd better downgrade the pytorch version to 1.5.0 and maybe
mmcv should be downgraded to 1.0.3

I just did the downgrade for Pytorch and mmcv to match the versions that you just told me. However, I get this after running python setup.py develop:

I just try to reproduce your issue using almost the same environment (2080Ti, GCC 7.5, CUDA10.2, Pytorch 1.6/1.5, mmcv 1.0.3 on python 3.7).
But I successfully installed movienet-tools using:

cd /path/to/movienet-tools
python -m pip install -e . -U

So the problem may be caused by python 3.8. I'll try to reduce your issue using a python 3.8 environment. Meanwhile, could you please try python 3.7 for installing movienet-tools? Please re-install pytorch after you switch python version.

What's the CUDA version if you type nvcc -V?

I installed it on AWS-EC2, where nvidia-smi shows CUDA10.2 while nvcc -V shows CUDA10.0.

After trials, I installed the PyTorch 1.4 which is the latest version corresponding to CUDA10.0, and it worked.
