Issues in the produced PDF:

  • Always putting site caption in sub-title when making it blank. Core bug
  • image in left header column actually has a lot of whitespace built into it. I'd suggest using an image with whitespace around it (use CSS to add a whitespace border that can be easily controlled)
  • in "Dunsmuir’s Easter Egg Extravaganza", for the photo credit part at the top, don't use "superscript" and "subscript" to make the font smaller. It adds a lot of whitespace between them which I don't think looks good. Just change the font size to small.
  • footnotes' numbers need to indented
  • "Firefighters Quell Scarface Vehicle Blaze"'s 1st non-featured image has space to the left. Make full width would fix?
  • so so so many links. Hide recent posts and tag cloud by default?
  • "California's dam removal" article and all subsequent ones taking up full page width, no columns --> must be a ob_flush_all() being called at the start of article "OPEN LETTER: KRRC CEO Mark Bransom Lied To Siskiyou County Supervisors". Will try deactivatin other plugins to isolate what's causing it
  • "unable to authorize: FERC Requests Revisions TO Tunnel Blast Plan" has an embedded PDF at the end. Probably want something else in the print copy. Use PMB CSS classes to probably replace with something else in the print version (like a hyperlink to the document) --> hide embedded PDFs
  • changing page size doesn’t allow more content
  • no text, just logo
  • [ ]PUBLISHER@SISKIYOU.NE bleeds over
  • [ ]QR code of each article
  • [ ]grayish background in print
  • replace link cards (eg “klamath river…” inside “double standard”) with a regular hyperlinks or something

Found how the Newsletter Glue plugin was interfering with our ob buffering: /newsletter-glue-pro-v2-23-bridge/includes/renders/web-view.php line 43 called ob_start() but never stops output buffering. I reported the issue to them on X as that's the only way to contact them of which I'm aware.

Contacted Newsletter Glue's main developer (I think @leslie_pizza), who got back to me right away with a fix and sent a copy of the plugin with the fix for me to test, which it did, and they got it released in a day or two.

I just emailed publisher at siskiyounews.com to follow up and see if they're waiting on me for anything.
