Design Datagram logo

Every project needs a logo, preferably pixel perfect one that took unnecessary amount of time to tweak just right given that extra oompf that nobody else except me will ever notice.
Deliverables
- black & white logo
- conveys that datagram is your connection to data
- works in favicon size and in billboard size
- is easily understandable for everybody with basic knowledge of tech
- uses simple shapes so it renders nicely on all DPIs
- is just a first version that can and will be improved in the future
The icon is meant to remind QR codes which will have a big part of the so-called digitalized future. We all carry phones with cameras around our pockets, so it only makes sense that at some point stores and shops will start to digitalize their menus, brochures and product details en masse. At the moment, only ubiquitous technology to connect offline to online is QR codes, so my bet is them getting more popular. Datagram supports exporting QR codes from datagrams and can read QR codes to reach datagrams. Given all this context, the QR code in the icon makes sense.
I wanted the icon to have more meaning than just the QR connection, so since a datagram is a sort of data container, I added a container. Whether the QR code sits on or in the container is up to the viewer to decide.
Please note that this icon is meant to be a sort of template for future variations. I hope from all my heart that designers will want to make their version of it and make it their own.
