The app needs and icon/visual identity.
I figured the app is about creating input>output audio links in a straight forward manner as opposed to the complexities of something like Helvum. The metaphor could revolve around patching cables, microphones, speakers, headphones.
basically this is what is does yes, a typical use case I have in mind is someone who needs to check his mic, or wants to set up a karaoke without a dedicated mic input
Given how specific you see the use case, the headphone + microphone connection might be more suitable.

Hi @jimmac , I'm making the final touches to the app. Are you working on the icon or it was just a Proof of concept?
I don't want to put any pressure on you of course, I'm just asking.

The color scheme is a bit close to Cozy right now, so maybe something even more eye catching than orange?
I think this last render looks better. I would make the mic just a little bigger, so that it overlaps the right side of the headphones.

The microphone being overlaid on the left side is what I don't like about the whole layout. I think making the microphone even larger would make the silhouette less legible and even throw it off balance from the real world proportions between the two.
I'm torn between bright green and dark orange.
I would go for dark orange but it looks very similar to Cozy
