Tree disappears from keyboard navigation

Describe the bug
pressing the left arrow key when focusing on the root element of the navigation tee causes the tree to disappear.
To Reproduce
use the arrow keys to navigate the navigation tree, continuously press the left arrow.
Expected behavior
tree shouldn't disappear
