Media not shown

Android stock emulator, API 31.
Device has 4 media files: one image in Pictures, two videos in Movies, one video in Downloads.
The main picker shows correct number of media files, but does not show preview for All media and for Movies:
When I open 'All media' or 'Movies' the app shows a blank screen:
The problem appears to happen only when the app is first installed. If I switch to "Only videos" or "Only Photos" then go back to default options, the app works correctly even after restart.
OK, this seems to be caused by invalid media file on the device.
