cannot network upload to rPi

I can ssh to my rPi just fine, but tools/port only shows ttyUSB0, no network option.
I can also see this advertisement from the board

How does the rPi avahi thing tell my linux laptop that it's there and it accepts uploads?
How do I debug it likely not working?

Ok, that shows avahi is working on the rPi, that's good.
So it's arduino's fault for not finding it, not sure why.
