Advanced Setting overlay not displaying

Hi, i've been getting an issue with the steam vr overlay. After installing, the advanced setting tab was there which i could click into but once i do there isn't anything displayed on the overlay, like it wasn't displaying or that there wasn't anything there in the first place. i've tried reinstalling advanced settings and steam vr and also going into the config files to find anything but nothing has worked.
