Give users a better understanding when connection fails

Currently, the server only disappears. An error message would be nice.
FTP or SFTP/SSH? and which login credentials were wrong?
SFTP/SSH & everything doesn't responds, it just disappears.
Edit: sometimes it says Unable to resolve hostname, even though logging in with correct credentials work.
