Projects Gallery not loading images

What happened?
Issue: When I open my gallery view I don't see images anymore.
I updated projects to the latest 1.10.0 Yesterday. I haven't been able to see any images in gallery.
I was able to reproduce this by making a new project.

What did you expect to happen?
This was working before I updated it. I would expect nothing to change
How can we reproduce it (as minimally and precisely as possible)?
- Make a new project
- Create a single note in the project
- Add a frontmatter variable
diagramand set it to any image file - Create a new Gallery view
- Set the gallery view cover to the field
Anything else we need to know?

I poked around in the last few commits. Maybe this is the problem?
