Cannot add mail spool source

If I add a new account with 'receiving mail' set to 'mail spool', the modal closes and no account is created.
If I add a 'mail spool' source to an existing account (e.g. with 'local files' option), after saving and reopening the modal to edit again, the source has disappeared.
There is no error (in GUI nor docker logs), and this happens with or without mail in /var[/spool]/mail.
