Flick Stick is a good alternative style of camera control for gamepads. In most other games, flick stick is used in tandem with gyroscope or a touchpad for vertical aiming, but it's perfect by itself for Dark Forces since no vertical aiming is necessary. External programs can be used for flick stick but unlike an in-engine implementation this requires the user to calibrate sensitivity.
