Bug report: Unwanted "LocalSend is not responding" and storage usage

SMSourov opened this issue · comments

Describe the bug

I'm not sure whether it is device specific or not. This happens when I transfer a large file from my phone to my PC.

My phone storage is near full (55.86 GB used out of 64.00 GB). I've a microSD card in my phone(87.8 GB used out of 116.00 GB).
I'm trying to send a file of 1.3 GB which is in microSD card.
Moreover, I've also turned off encryption from phone and PC app as I've no need for those features.

When I try to send the file to my PC, the phone doesn't respond for a moment. In the meantime, I get a warning that my phone storage is getting full. After waiting for a moment, the app responds and works without any problem. Also, I notice my phone storage usage also got increased by that amount of file size. Is the app by any chance copying the file from my microSD card to phone storage and then sending the file?

But, when I try to send the same file from my PC to my phone, I don't see anything like that, no extra storage usage, no lags etc. It works flawlessly.

To reproduce

  1. Open the app in your phone
  2. Make sure your phone is near to full storage
  3. Disable encryption from your phone and from the other device
  4. Select a large file from an external storage
  5. Send it to another device

Expected behavior

As I've disabled encryption, no extra file operation will be necessary,
It shouldn't copy my file to my phone storage.

I don't think screenshots will be necessary.
