Is it still possible to install this hack if your Roku didn't already have dev mode enabled? After cautiously enabling dev mode without triggering an update check, I am stuck seeing the message "Failed To Check For Software Update" when visiting the HTTP server my Roku is now hosting.

I'm assuming some sort of check was added to activating dev mode, and as such it's no longer possible to side load channels without an update check.

Amusingly enough, it seems they didn't gate channel uploading on being on the latest known firmware. Instead, it's gated on the check for updates. I enabled network access to the update server temporarily, manually checked for updates, told it not to install the update right now, and I was magically able to sideload the jailbreak channel.

Thanks Roku for being incompetent, I guess.

Now I just need to figure out how to disable the stupid blinking LED when it doesn't have a network connection...
