The publish workflow fails with a "Detached HEAD" message

After the pypi distro is updated, we attempt to update the Authors and Changelog to reflect what has been done, but the process fails with a "Detached HEAD".
with the migration to poetry, these files are generated for us, closing. (please reopen if you need another file to autoupdate that isn't already?)
