source of boxart names is not redump?

Trying to connect the dots on something...
The docs say that source for Sega CD info is Redump. However, the names of the thumbnails for Sega CD games often enough don't match the names of the games in the Redump file. As such, thumbnails often don't appear in Retroarch.
I'm trying to figure out what the source of the thumbnail names was?
For example, in Redump the disc # comes after the region (e.g. "...(USA) (Disc 1)") whereas the thumbnails have it reversed (e.g. "(Disc 1) (USA)"). And the thumbnails often (but not always) omit the space between the "Disc" and the number. Can someone shed some light?
